Hoffman Estates woman charged in fatal hit-and-run near Chicago Executive Airport
A Hoffman Estates woman has been charged in a May 3 hit-and-run crash that killed a Prospect Heights man as he stood near the viewing area of Chicago Executive Airport.
Janette Dominguez Urbina, 33, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, driving on a suspended driver’s license and an additional traffic offense, Prospect Heights police said.
She appeared at the Cook County Courthouse in Rolling Meadows for a detention hearing Thursday and was denied pretrial release. She will remain in custody through her next court hearing on Aug. 21.
According to Prospect Heights police, officers responded at about 9:01 a.m. May 3 to a call about an unconscious man along the fence line of the airport viewing area at 79 E. Palatine Frontage Road.
The man, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was identified as 68-year-old John Folan of Prospect Heights.
Investigators determined Folan was hit by a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado, police said. The suspected vehicle was located and seized in Hoffman Estates with assistance from Hoffman Estates police, authorities said.
After obtaining several search warrants, with assistance from police in Arlington Heights, Wheeling and Wilmette, investigators determined Dominguez Urbina had been the driver of the vehicle, Prospect Heights police said.
