Bicycle racers sprint through Lombard Tuesday
The Chicago Grit bicycle road race series came to Lombard Tuesday for the Lombard Cycling Classic.
Lombard has been hosting annual criterium-style bike races since 2001. The latest iteration is on a course that features both a narrow phase and a wide-open sprint finish stretch.
Tuesday was the final stop for the DuPage Triple Crown. The three-day miniseries started Saturday in Glen Ellyn with the Tour of Lake Ellyn, continued Sunday during the Winfield Criterium and Summerfest, and concluded in Lombard with the crowning of the champions.
The Chicago Grit continues through July 26 with the next five racing events in Brookfield, Northbrook, Elgin, Lake Bluff, and Chicago.
