Wheeling board inks design deal for new fountain on Milwaukee Avenue
The Wheeling village board on Monday approved a contract with Kimley-Horn and Associates to finalize the design of a new fountain at the northeast corner of Milwaukee Avenue and Dundee Road.
The current fountain, which was completed in 2001, has maintenance issues and will be demolished.
Kimley-Horn already has developed preliminary plans for a new fountain. It primarily will consist of several circular pools. The village’s name will be displayed within a railing in the center of the layout.
Seating areas, a decorative structure and large planters also are planned.
Kimley-Horn will be paid $324,700 for this latest phase of the project, documents indicate. The project has a $5 million budget.
Construction is anticipated to begin in 2027.
