Two appointed to fill Batavia school board vacancies

The Batavia Unit District 101 has two new school board members.

Tara Gray was sworn in on June 23, and Patrick Gray was sworn in on July 13.

They replace Danielle Sligar and Katy Swiecicki, who resigned May 19, saying they had been silenced when they tried to get topics discussed by the board and found it difficult to work with the administration.

Gray was a member of the Batavia park board for 12 years, until May 2025.
