Two men charged in gun, drugs cases in DuPage County

Two men are facing gun and drug charges in separate cases in DuPage County.

Sterling Boston, 33, of the 10S600 block of Lilac Lane, Willowbrook, is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) with intent to deliver, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, both felonies, according to a news release from the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office and the county sheriff.

He is being detained pretrial.

George Haddad, 59, of the 500 block of Redondo Drive, Downers Grove, is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) with intent to deliver, and misdemeanor possession of a firearm without a serial number. Haddad has been released on a GPS monitor.

According to a prosecutor’s petition to detain Boston, at 10:07 a.m. July 14, members of the U.S. Marshals’ Fugitive Apprehension Team were at Lilac Lane to arrest a man on an unrelated matter, and saw Boston leaving the apartment. An officer and Boston spoke briefly, and Boston walked away while reaching for the waistband of his pants.

The task force officer believed Boston might be reaching for a gun. He detained Boston and felt a large squishy bag in the waistband. It contained 206 small plastic bags containing 65 grams of cocaine.

DuPage deputies later searched the residence, and say they found similar bags, cannabis and a loaded .556-caliber AR-style pistol.

In the second case, the DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group investigated Haddad. Officers met with him on July 2 to buy 28 grams and on July 14 to buy 129.6 grams.

Later on July 14, they searched his home and found another 81.2 grams of cocaine, in small plastic bags with prices written on them. The news release said agents also found 27 amphetamine pills, 13 guns and $26,422.

Boston’s next court date is July 22.

Haddad is next due in court Aug. 24.
