Arlington Heights Garden Club names Scholarship recipients

The Arlington Heights Garden Club recently awarded $6,000 in scholarships. The Rotary Club of Arlington Heights contributed an additional $2,000 toward the scholarships. The scholarship committee was pleased to have received applications from 20 qualified applicants this year. They awarded six scholarships of $1,250 each and one $500 scholarship.

Since 2003, the Arlington Heights Garden club has awarded $91,000 in scholarships to area students who are pursuing degrees in horticulture, landscape architecture, sustainability, environmental science, marine biology or related fields. The recipients were invited to the club’s June meeting to be congratulated. The proceeds from the club’s two annual fundraisers, the plant sale and garden walk and unique boutique, let the club continue with these scholarships each year.

The following students were recipients of 2026 scholarships:

• Brandon Houghton, 2025 graduate of Prospect High School

• Mason Zimmer, 2023 graduate of Prospect High School

• Vivienne De Rosea, 2026 graduate of Hersey High School

• Danielle Edley, 2026 graduate of Stevenson High School

• Kailyn Gauna, 2026 graduate of Prospect High School

• Joshua Nesvacil, 2026 graduate of Rolling Meadows High School

• Julie Hamann, student at College of DuPage studying horticulture
