Grayslake history program July 25 looks at Tree Island
The Grayslake Historical Society will host its next Reminisce program featuring a discussion of the iconic Tree Island on Saturday, July 25.
The program will be held at 10 a.m. in the community room of the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum, 164 Hawley St., Grayslake. The program is free and light refreshments will be served.
Tree Island, located behind and a little north of Woodview School, was a large pile of dirt left by a developer for a project that was not completed. It became a gathering place for youngsters and teenagers. Some used it for illicit escapades.
It is now a completed subdivision.
Following the discussion the museum galleries will be open featuring the new exhibit about the Grayslake Fire Department.
