Police: Woman broke into Aurora home, barricaded herself inside
Aurora police arrested a Country Club Hills woman Saturday after authorities say she broke into a home then barricaded herself inside when officers arrived to investigate.
Kendra Presley, 28, faces charges of residential burglary, theft, criminal damage to property and criminal trespass, police said Sunday.
According to police, officers responded to the home in the 100 block of South Edgelawn Avenue at about 9:14 a.m. Saturday after a neighbor reported a suspicious person on the property.
Officers arrived to find evidence of forced entry and encountered a woman inside the residence, officials said. When refused to come out, officers secured the area while members of the Aurora Police Department’s Crisis Negotiations Team and Special Response Team responded to the scene.
After more than an hour of negotiations, officers took the woman into custody without incident, police said. She was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
Kane County jail and court records indicate Presley was processed into the facility Sunday morning and is being held pending a scheduled court appearance Monday morning.
