Aurora’s Wesley UMC to host hymn sing July 12

Wesley United Methodist Church in Aurora will hold a hymn sing on Sunday, July 12. Thew Elliott, director of liturgy and music, will lead the 10:30 a.m. worship at the church, 14 N. May St.

The Rev. Tammy Scott, said “Methodism founder John Wesley believed that singing wasn't simply part of worship — it was a way God forms us. He encouraged Methodists to 'sing lustily and with good courage,' not because every voice is perfect, but because every voice matters. When we sing together, we encourage one another, proclaim our faith, and experience God's grace in a unique and powerful way.

“Whether your favorite hymn is an old classic, a beloved gospel song, or one that has carried you through a difficult season, we hope you'll join us as we lift our voices together.

“Come ready to request a favorite hymn, hear the stories behind some beloved songs and lift your voice with the Wesley family. Whether you consider yourself a confident singer or someone who quietly hums along, there is a place for you in the song,” Rev. Scott said.
