Training facility for baseball, softball coming to Wheeling

A new indoor sports facility is coming to Wheeling.

An entrepreneur aims to open a D-BAT Baseball and Softball Training Academy franchise at 100 Chaddick Drive. It’ll offer batting cages, camps, clinics, a pro shop and other services and facilities.

After a brief discussion Monday, the village board approved a special-use permit for the operation.

A Jan. 1 opening date is the target.

The nearest D-BAT franchise is in Villa Park. Others are in Hickory Hills, Mokena and elsewhere in Illinois and the nation.
