Palatine man charged in hit-and-run crash that killed Carpentersville man
A 29-year-old Palatine man is facing felony charges in connection with a hit-and-run crash last month that killed a Carpentersville man who was on the shoulder changing a tire.
Kuljeet Singh Kang is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal injury crash and reckless homicide stemming from the June 24 crash along westbound I-80 in Lansing, Illinois State Police announced Monday.
Authorities allege Kang was driving the vehicle that struck Sebastian D. Stone, 23, just before 5:30 a.m. near Torrance Avenue.
Kang drove away after the crash but was quickly identified as the driver by state police investigators, officials said Monday.
Stone was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries suffered in the crash, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Kang is being held in the Cook County jail awaiting an initial court appearance, state police said.
