Delta plane hit by firework while landing at Midway airport

A Delta Air Lines flight was reportedly hit by a firework while landing at Chicago’s Midway International Airport on the Fourth of July, airline officials said.

Delta Air Lines Flight 1076 was heading into Midway from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Saturday evening. Fifty-two passengers and six crew members were on board.

At around 8:30 p.m., the crew heard a “bang” on the plane, according to air traffic control audio.

The aircraft, an Airbus A319, landed safely and taxied to the gate, a Delta spokesperson said.

The airline said no damage was found on the aircraft.
