Rain ends game with Dogs trailing in ninth inning

Between the heat and the late-game rain, the Chicago Dogs and Winnipeg Goldeyes were unable to complete their Friday night game. Chicago was down 8-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning when the rain struck at Impact Field yet again.

The Dogs offense struggled in similar fashion to the evening before, putting pressure on the Winnipeg starter Luke Boyd early, but they couldn’t capitalize on runners in scoring position. Giovanni DiGiacomo swatted his eighth home run of the season in the bottom of the first, smoking it off the batter’s eye. Aaron Altherr ripped a single into left in the bottom of the sixth, driving in Daniel Harris, but that was all the offense Chicago would get.
