Investigation underway after woman’s body recovered from Fox River

Authorities are investigating the death of a woman whose body was recovered from the Fox River near St. Charles Wednesday.

Fox River & Countryside Fire Rescue District Chief Michael Hall said the woman’s body was recovered near the Red Gate Road bridge, in an unincorporated part of Kane County north of St. Charles.

A boater and a person on shore notified authorities of the body just before 5:30 p.m., Hall said.

The Kane County sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the woman’s death. The agency hasn’t released any information.

An autopsy is scheduled for today.
