Hanover Township food pantry expanding hours
Beginning July 2, Hanover Township will expand its food pantry operations to 36 hours a week.
Located at 7431 Astor Avenue in Hanover Park, the pantry has experienced more than 3,000 visits since April 1.
The new hours are 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
The pantry is staffed by volunteers. No tax dollars are used.
Donations can be dropped off at the town hall, 250 S. IL Route 59 in Bartlett; the senior center, 240 S. IL Route 59 in Bartlett; and the Izaak Walton Youth Center, 899 Jay Street in Elgin; or directly at the pantry.
Most needed items include cereal, pancake mix, instant potatoes, coffee, sugar, cooking oil, canned goods, ketchup, paper products, white rice and soup.
