Lincoln sweeps doubleheader from Chicago Dogs

The Chicago Dogs dropped both games of their doubleheader against the Lincoln Saltdogs at Haymarket Park on Saturday. Chicago lost the first game 5-4 and the second 10-1.

The first leg of the doubleheader was a back-and-forth contest that saw the Dogs strike first with a two-run first inning thanks to RBI from Ethan Wilder and Jacob Maiben. Lincoln tied the game at two apiece in the bottom of the first on an RBI double by Cary Arbolida. Gio DiGiacomo reclaimed the lead for Chicago in the top of the second on an RBI sacrifice fly that drove in Tyreque Reed.

Lincoln countered once again in the bottom of the third when Jairo Pomares tied the game at 3-3 on an RBI double that scored Cam Phelts. Jacob Maiben took the lead back for the Dogs in the top of the seventh on an RBI single that drove in his brother, Derek.

The Saltdogs answered once again in the bottom of the seventh when Phelts drove in Calyn Halvorson to send the game into extra innings. Connor Bagnieski drove in the game-winning run for the second straight game in the bottom of the eighth to give Lincoln a 5-4 victory.
