Pedestrian struck and killed by Metra train in Palatine
Metra police are investigating the death of a pedestrian who was struck by an inbound commuter train early Friday morning in Palatine.
The collision occurred at about 5:10 a.m. near the intersection of Northwest Highway and West Baldwin Road, Metra officials said.
Metra officials said the pedestrian appears to have been struck along the train line, before the crossing.
They have not released any details about the pedestrian who was killed.
Metra officials said four trains were canceled, but trains are moving slowly through the area. Delays may occur because of the ongoing investigation.
An autopsy is slated for Saturday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
