3 men accused of robbing 2 women after dating dispute in Naperville

Three men have been accused of robbing two women outside a Naperville grocery store early Thursday morning, authorities said.

Jalen Green, 19, of the 700 block of Violet Circle, Naperville, and Dayvon Toney, 19, of the 500 block of Northgate in Oswego, are charged with two counts of armed robbery and mob action. Green is also charged with aggravated battery. All are felony charges.

Tyrell I. Mays, 19, of the 2800 block of Troon Drive, Montgomery, is charged with armed robbery and mob action.

According to petitions to have the three men detained pretrial, DuPage County prosecutors said Mays had a romantic interest in one of the women and was unhappy that the two women were dating each other.

After Mays had a FaceTime conversation with the women about fighting them, he arranged for the women to take an Uber from Chicago to Naperville, according to prosecutors.

When the women showed up around 4 a.m. Thursday in the parking lot of the Jewel-Osco store at 1759 W. Ogden Ave, Mays began fighting one of them, authorities said.

Meanwhile, the second woman got shoved into a fence by Green and Toney, prosecutors said. Green also hit the woman in the head with a handgun, officials say.

Authorities said the men then took the women’s possessions, including a backpack containing a handgun.

After the attack, the victims called 911. While they were speaking with the police, Mays called one of them.

According to prosecutors, Mays asked the woman if she wanted her Firearm Owner's Identification card back and said he would return her wallet if she paid $250.

On Friday, DuPage County Judge Demetrios Panoushis ordered that Green, Toney and Mays be held in jail. Their next court date is July 13.
