Wayne Township Road District earns ‘Best-in-Class’ Award for workplace safety
Each year, the Illinois Public Risk Fund, a public entity workers’ compensation program, recognizes member agencies that earn the Best in Their Class Award for outstanding performance in claims and risk management.
On behalf of the fund and its 671 members, the board of directors recognize the Wayne Township Road District with the 2025 IPRF Member Performance Best-In-Class Award.
The Best-In-Class designation reflects exceptional performance within a member agency’s classification.
Under National Council on Compensation Insurance guidelines, all 671 IPRF member agencies are grouped into classification codes that help evaluate workers’ compensation risk. The fund currently serves 14 member types, and within the road district type, the Wayne Township Road District met the fund’s performance criteria to earn this recognition.
Selection criteria
To receive the 2025 IPRF Best-In-Class Award, the Wayne Township Road District demonstrated a strong commitment to safety and risk management. The agency showed that it has a meaningful plan in place and is actively carrying it out. Examples of the core criteria considered for this recognition include:
• Completion of a GAP analysis to assess current programs and identify future safety objectives.
• An active safety committee that meets regularly.
• Safety training for all employees, including temporary, seasonal, and volunteer staff, with measurable outcomes.
• Review of all injuries, accidents, and near misses to support continuous improvement.
The IPRF Board applauds the Wayne Township Road District for its strong commitment to workplace safety and for achieving exemplary results.
