Chicago man charged in Barrington shop burglary
A Chicago man was arrested after an investigation into a December break-in at a Barrington boutique, officials said.
Cortney J. Shivers, 32, faces one felony count of burglary, according to a news release from the Barrington Police Department. He was arrested at the DuPage County Courthouse in Wheaton, taken to the Barrington Police Department and released on a signature bond by police.
Officers responded to Restyle Designers Barrington on Dec. 28, 2025, for a reported burglary, the release stated. The business reported more than $106,000 worth of merchandise had been stolen.
After the investigation, detectives determined that Shivers had been at the business the day before the robbery to conduct surveillance; he joined other suspects on the day of the break-in.
The case is still under investigation, and more people may be charged, police said. No information about Shivers next court date was immediately available.
