Scooter rider attacked by bicyclist in Des Plaines

A 64-year-old man riding an electric scooter in Des Plaines was hit and then punched by a bicycle rider on June 13, police said.

The attack occurred about 11:50 a.m. on a bike path on the 2000 block of Rand Road.

The man told police the assailant’s bike bumped his scooter, causing him to fall. The assailant then punched him and fled, police said.

The attacker was wearing a maroon shirt and black shorts and was last seen headed east on the path, according to a police report.
