Sex assault reported in downtown Arlington Heights parking garage

Arlington Heights police are investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred Saturday in a downtown parking garage.

According to police, a teenage girl told investigators she was on the top level of the Eastman Parking Garage, near Miner Street and Arlington Heights Road, when approached by an unknown man about 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

The girl reported that the man asked for her assistance with an issue involving his vehicle, police said. She entered the man’s vehicle, where the reported assault took place, according to police.

The suspect was described as a white male with dark hair, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing 200 to 250 pounds, with dark hair. He was wearing a black T-shirt and black athletic shorts.

The vehicle was described as an older model, gray SUV.

The girl was transported to a local hospital where she underwent a precautionary medical evaluation, police said.

Police said they are actively pursuing all investigative leads, and additional information will be released as it becomes available and as appropriate to the investigation.
