Bears are acting like spoiled children
The potential Chicago Bears stadium issue has been going on way too long. They are acting like a spoiled child in that they want part of their new stadium built with public money or they are going to take the proverbial bat and ball and go home. While they are acting like a child, the state of Indiana is acquiescing to the needs of the spoiled child. Illinois is acting like a good mature parent and telling the child to be responsible for their own needs.
A parent may offer a child an incentive plan such as a new toy or money for getting good grades, the Illinois parent, in this case our elected officials, should sit down with the Bears and offer their own incentive plan. For the state to provide financial assistance in the form of tax breaks, the Bears need to make the playoffs so many (fill in the blanks) years in a row. If they progress each year in the playoff, the incentive is much deeper. By reaching the Super Bowl it gets more and by winning it, the rewards are much better. The Indiana parent is taking the easy way out and spoiling the child.
Good parenting and governing is difficult. Calm heads and discussions are needed to prevent a spoiled child from ruining everything.
