Lightning strikes Oak Brook home

An Oak Brook home was damaged Wednesday by a lightning strike, authorities said.

Crews from the Oak Brook Fire Department responded around 4 p.m. June 10 to the report of a structure fire on the 3000 block of Mulberry Lane. They found that lightning had struck the chimney of the two-story house.

There was a light haze of smoke inside the home, but no fire was located. No injuries were reported.

After crews completed extensive salvage operations, the residence was released back to the homeowner, fire officials said.
