Prior to the warrant being served, police observed Barillas, a convicted felon, leaving the home and conducted a traffic stop where he was arrested, authorities said.

During the traffic stop, officers recovered a stolen Glock 19 handgun loaded with a 30-round extended magazine, as well as substances suspected to be cocaine, cannabis, Xanax and Adderall, according to police.

According to police, the search of the residence found an Archangel .22-caliber rifle, additional suspected narcotics, multiple digital scales and other drug-related paraphernalia commonly associated with the distribution of controlled substances.

Barillas was also wanted on an unrelated warrant for unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

According to police, the Kane County state’s attorney’s office charged Barillas with one felony count of armed violence, one felony count of manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance (cocaine, less than 15 grams), and one felony count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

He also faces two felony counts of felon in possession of a weapon and three felony counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Barillas remains in custody at the Kane County Adult Justice Center until his next court appearance.
