Batavia celebrates Flag Day June 14

Batavia’s Flag Day Celebration on Sunday, June 14, will offer a full afternoon of history, music, and patriotic community spirit.

From 1 to 2:30 p.m., guests can explore an exhibit of historic American flags tracing the nation’s story from the Revolutionary War to today.

At 2:45 p.m., the annual flag‑raising ceremony will begin, followed by updates on the Flag Day Monument, newly installed bricks and plaques, and the forthcoming dedication of the Liberty Education Plaza by the Illinois Daughters of the American Revolution.

Throughout the afternoon, the Batavia Community Band will provide musical performances, and the event will conclude with an America 250 “human flag” demonstration.

The Batavia Flag Day Committee is also encouraging attendance at an “America 250” Revolutionary War encampment on Flag Day weekend at Cantigny Park in Wheaton, with a full schedule of activities on Saturday and Sunday, June 13-14, featuring artillery companies, and reenactments, as well as fireworks on Saturday.
