Storms batter suburbs, more expected through Thursday
Thunderstorms bringing heavy wind gusts and torrential downpours moved into the suburbs Wednesday afternoon, and forecasters are expecting more severe weather through Thursday.
Two more systems expected Thursday, according to meteorologists at the National Weather Service bureau in Romeoville.
Thursday storms are expected to begin at about 11 a.m. and last through 3 p.m. Northern suburbs are likely to be more affected by this storm, meteorologists say.
The second round Thursday is anticipated to last from about 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and could be more damaging. Both systems Thursday could bring tornadoes and other damaging winds, along with hail and the potential for flash flooding.
Expect sunny skies and warm temperatures Friday and Saturday, with a chance of more showers Saturday night.
