Buffalo Grove dance studio plan puts best foot forward

A new dance studio aims to continue the legacy of a previous studio in the same location.

Kristina Saldarelli plans to open Saldarelli Dance Arts LLC at 1388 Busch Parkway in The Corporate Grove.

The space was previously used by Movement & Sound Dance for about seven years. Saldarelli was on the faculty there.

“Saldarelli Dance Arts is essentially the same business, but it’s just operating under a new ownership and a new LLC,” she told the commission.

“We do not plan to make any revisions to the space, as it is already set up for a dance studio,” she added.

The plan glided through the village’s planning and zoning commission last week and is headed for village board approval at an upcoming meeting.

She plans to teach instructional and recreational dance for children, teens and adults.

“It’s a great location for families,” she said. “It’s very safe.”

Nearby uses include child care, a tutoring center and an indoor golf simulator.

Saldarelli, who grew up in Gurnee, holds a master’s degree in dance education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She said she teaches dancers of all abilities, specializing in jazz, tap and ballet.

The business touts high-quality dance education in a safe, supportive and structured environment.

“Dance education and performance has been my life’s work for over 25 years. I’ve worked with every age and stage of students, including in higher education as an adjunct professor of dance,” she said.
