AgeGuide announces transition of Family Caregiver Support Services in Will County

AgeGuide, the Area Agency on Aging for Northeastern Illinois, announced recent changes to service provision in Will County.

AgeGuide’s funded partner, Senior Services of Will County, has voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy as part of a financial restructuring process. It previously received AgeGuide funding for Federal Title III-E Family Caregiver Support Services. The organization has ended its grant agreement with AgeGuide effective June 30, 2026.

To ensure continuity of care, AgeGuide will begin directly delivering Family Caregiver Support Services in Will County on an interim basis while a new service provider is identified through a Request for Proposal process.

Senior Services of Will County will continue to provide Care Coordination Unit (CCU) and Adult Protective Services (APS) programs under contract with the Illinois Department on Aging (IDoA). In this capacity, SSW will continue to deliver in-home comprehensive assessments for adults age 60 and older, regardless of income or assets. These assessments help older adults and their caregivers identify needed supports to safely remain in their homes and communities.

In addition, Senior Services of Will County will determine eligibility for Older Americans Act Home Delivered Meals and the Community Care Program including assistance with Medicaid applications for older adults who qualify for Community Care Program.

“Family caregivers play a critical role in helping older adults remain safe and connected to their communities. While Senior Services of Will County transitions through this restructuring process, AgeGuide is committed to ensuring that caregivers continue to receive the support, resources, and services they depend on.” said Marla Fronczak, CEO of AgeGuide.

Catholic Charities Diocese of Joliet continues to be the Aging and Disability Resource Network hub for Will County. AgeGuide has initiated a Request for Proposal (RFP) process to identify a qualified organization interested in providing Older Americans Act Title III-E Family Caregiver Support services in Will County. AgeGuide and Senior Services of Will County are working collaboratively to support a seamless transition of Family Caregiver Support Services.

AgeGuide values our long-standing partnership with Senior Services of Will County and appreciates their collaboration in making this transition as seamless as possible. Our focus remains unchanged: providing uninterrupted access to high-quality services for older adults, caregivers, and families throughout Will County.
