Police investigating unauthorized financial activity in Des Plaines School District 62
Unauthorized financial activity in a Des Plaines Elementary School District 62 bank account has been reported to police, officials announced Monday.
The activity was discovered May 20, according to a District 62 news release. It originated outside the district.
A loss estimate wasn’t available.
All district bank accounts have been flagged and secured to prevent additional fraud, according to the news release.
Des Plaines police and a fraud team from the district’s bank is investigating.
The investigation is in the “very early stages,“ police Cmdr. Matt Bowler said.
The school board met in a closed-door session Friday night to discuss the issue. The board took no action in open session after that discussion, a district spokeswoman said.
No other details were available.
