Dogs’ bats explode in victory over Winnipeg
The Chicago Dogs avoided being swept thanks to Sunday’s 14-7 victory over the Winnipeg Goldeyes. The Dogs tied their season-high with 15 hits.
The Dogs got on the board in the bottom of the second on an RBI from Jacob Maiben. Chance Sisco tied the game for Chicago with an RBI single in the bottom of the third.
With the Dogs trailing 5-2, Jaxx Groshans cut the margin with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. Ethan Wilder tie the game with an RBI single that scored Jacob and Derek Maiben.
Derek Maiben again tied it at six apiece in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single that brought home Daniel Harris. The Dogs took a 7-6 lead after Gio DiGiacomo was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
Wilder extended the Chicago lead in the seventh inning on another RBI single that scored D. Maiben and Harris. Tyreque Reed added two more runs for the Dogs with an RBI single that brought home Wilder and Michael Torniero. Jaxx Groshans followed with a three-run homer to complete a seven-run seventh inning for Chicago.
