Geneva man dies in single-vehicle crash

A man died Thursday night after a single-vehicle crash in Geneva, authorities said.

Joseph C. Fisher III, 47, of Geneva, was driving a 2017 Jeep Renegade north on Crissey Avenue when the vehicle veered off the roadway shortly before 10 p.m. and struck a tree on the east side of Crissey, according to officials.

Geneva police, Batavia police and Geneva Fire Department personnel responded to the crash. Authorities said Fisher was removed from the vehicle and taken to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital. Hospital staff pronounced Fisher dead at 10:43 p.m. Thursday.

There were no passengers and no indication of impairment at the scene, according to Geneva police and the Kane County Coroner’s Office.

A portion of Crissey Avenue was closed for three hours while police and fire personnel responded to the scene and debris was removed.
