Two die in Kane County head-on crash

Two people died Thursday evening in a two-car crash near Sandwald and Big Timber roads in unincorporated Kane County, according to the Huntley Fire Protection District.

Firefighters arrived on the scene at approximately 5:28 p.m. and found two vehicles just west of the intersection with significant front-end damage, fire officials said.

The adult male driver of one of the cars was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The adult female driver of the second car was transported to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

On Friday, the Kane County Coroner’s Office identified one of the motorists who died as 28-year-old Nathan King of Hampshire. Preliminary findings indicate that King suffered multiple injuries consistent with a motor vehicle crash, officials said.

Fire officials said the drivers were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles.

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
