After one year pause, Itasca is bringing back ‘a more localized’ Fourth of July fireworks show
Itasca will reignite a Fourth of July fireworks show one year after hitting pause on the popular display due to construction.
The small town has long prided itself on one of the largest Independence Day fireworks spectacles in the region. This summer’s event will accommodate significantly fewer people, the village announced Thursday.
Ongoing development within Hamilton Lakes Business Park has reduced the available event footprint. The 2026 celebration will mark America’s 250th birthday with what the village described as “a more localized, community-oriented experience.”
“For Itascans, the fireworks have been a hometown tradition for decades,” said Mayor Jeff Pruyn in a statement. “This year is about celebrating that tradition in a way that fits today’s space while still bringing people together.”
The event, presented in partnership with Hamilton Partners, will feature live music, food and beverage vendors topped off by a redesigned fireworks display choreographed to music.
Gates are set to open at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, with fireworks scheduled for approximately 9:45 p.m., weather permitting. Attendance will be limited.
The village advises visitors to reserve space in advance through prepaid parking.
“We want people to plan ahead,” said Village Administrator Carie Anne Ergo in a statement. “Capacity is limited this year, and arriving early with a parking reservation will be the best way to ensure access.”
Prepaid reserved parking will be available for $30 online at itasca.com/fireworks, with entry required before 7 p.m.
Day-of-event parking will be $40, cash only, and offered on a first-come, first-served basis until lots reach capacity. No vehicles will be allowed to enter the site after 9 p.m., and parking areas may close earlier if full.
The village also has an updated traffic and access plan this year, including four designated entrance points, designed to improve traffic flow and enhance public safety during peak arrival periods. People should expect waits of up to an hour or more to enter or exit Hamilton Lakes during peak times.
