Dogs swept by Sioux Falls
The Chicago Dogs were swept by the Sioux Falls Canaries after falling 5-4 in 11 innings on Sunday.
The Dogs managed only two hits through the first eight innings. In the top of the ninth, Jacob Maiben added his second base hit of the game, followed by another base hit from Gio DiGiacomo. Tyreque Reed drove them both in with an RBI double, narrowing the Dogs’ deficit to 3-2. Jaxx Groshans with an RBI double, scoring pinch-runner Michael Torniero to tie the game.
After a scoreless ninth inning from Dogs reliever Jacob DeLabio, the Dogs took a 4-3 lead in the top of the 10th with an RBI single from Daniel Harris. After tying the game in the bottom of the 10th, the Canaries won it in the 11th.
Dogs starting pitcher Eric Lin struck out 10 over six innings while allowing five hits and two runs allowed.
The Dogs return home Tuesday to Impact Field to take on the Cleburne Railroaders.
