Chicago Dogs wallop Kansas City to even series

The Dogs dominated the Kansas City Monarchs 11-2 to even the series at one game apiece in Kansas City.

The Dogs bats got hot early before a Chance Sisco sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning got Chicago on the scoreboard. This would be followed by a Kansas City error that allowed Aaron Altherr to reach second on an infield groundball, advancing Ethan Wilder to third. After Jaxx Groshans was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Brian Fuentes delivered a no-doubt grand slam over the left-field wall to complete a five-run third inning for the Dogs.

RBI from Sisco and Groshans in the fourth inning extended the Dogs’ lead to seven (8-1). Chicago went cold for a few innings before another Sisco RBI drove in CJ Cepicky and Daniel Harris. This was followed by another RBI from former Phillie Aaron Altherr to make the score 11-1.

Steven Lacey was excellent through seven innings pitched, allowing just one earned run on five hits while striking out six, one short of his career high. He was relieved by Rayne Supple, followed by Jacob DeLabio, who struck out the side to end the game.
