Sioux City clobbers Chicago Dogs

The Chicago Dogs dropped the second game of their opening series 13-2 against the Sioux City Explorers.

A two-run home run from Zac Vooletich in the top of the first inning kickstarted an explosive offensive attack from the Explorers. This was followed up in the top of the second with a solo shot from Jackson Van De Brake that extended the Sioux City lead to four.

The Dogs entered the scorebooks in the bottom of the second after a CJ Cepicky double scored Brian Fuentes to make the score 4-1.

The Dogs’ hopes of a comeback were diminished quickly after a trio of hits from Jackson Mayo, Elliot Good, and Zane Denton allowed the Explorers to jump out to a 9-1 lead in the top of the third.

Gio DiGiacomo hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the seventh to add another run for the Dogs, making the score 13-2.

Explorers starter Reed Butz held the Dogs offense to five hits and one run through five innings on their way to a dominant victory in the second game of the three-game opening series.
