Undocumented immigrant sentenced to a year in prison for assaulting federal agents in Kane County
An undocumented immigrant was sentenced to a year in federal prison after pleading guilty to assaulting law enforcement agents trying to arrest him last summer in Kane County.
Francisco Javier Acevedo-Calderon, 40, of Aurora, pleaded guilty in January to assaulting a federal employee.
According to court records, Acevedo-Calderon attacked two U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents who were serving him an arrest warrant in the lobby of the Kane County sheriff’s office in St. Charles last July.
Authorities said Acevedo-Calderon kicked one agent, head-butted another and then bit a Kane County sheriff’s deputy who offered to assist the ICE agents.
Acevedo-Calderon was ultimately subdued by officers and arrested for entering the country illegally.
