Two DeKalb women, Melrose Park man identified as those killed in I-88 crash Sunday

Authorities have identified two DeKalb women and a Melrose Park man as the three people killed in a wrong-way crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 88 near Sugar Grove.

Kane County Coroner Monica Silva said all three died from injuries suffered in the crash that happened at about 4 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-88, just west of Route 47.

Authorities believe 32-year-old Jonathan Rivera of Melrose Park was driving east in the westbound lanes when he collided with a vehicle occupied by the two 21-year-old DeKalb women head-on.

The driver of the other vehicle was identified as Sariyah Watson and her passenger was Heaven Williams.

Toxicology samples were sent to a national laboratory for additional analysis, Silva’s office reported.

Additional details are expected when the toxicology results are reported.
