Aurora sex offender facing child porn charges
A registered sex offender is facing new charges after an investigation by Aurora police.
Robert T. May, 38, is charged with 10 felony counts of possession of child sex abuse material — prior conviction, and five felony counts of failure to register as a sex offender.
He was arrested April 29 on the 700 block of Serendipity Drive in Aurora.
In August 2023, Aurora police received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force regarding suspected online child exploitation activity.
Detectives obtained warrants to search electronic devices and reviewed digital evidence obtained from online service providers.
They learned May had been convicted in 2014 in Kentucky of child pornography offenses.
May is free on pretrial release. His next court date is May 28 in Kane County Circuit Court.
