Voices Unlimited Chorus celebrates the Declaration’s 250th anniversary
The Voices Unlimited Chorus will present their spring concert “America — Keep Singing,” a tribute to the 250th anniversary of the writing and signing of the Declaration of Independence, on Sunday, May 17.
The concert, under the music direction of founder David Barth, will be at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary of Journey of Hope United Methodist Church, 37W040 Highland Ave. in Elgin. Doors open at 2:30 p.m.
The program will feature a portrayal of Thomas Jefferson who will discuss what the Declaration said and why he was chosen to write it. The concert will commemorate our nation’s rich musical heritage that reflects our love of God and pride in our country. In addition to songs of patriotism and faith, the program will feature a tribute to the armed forces and songs honoring those who have given their lives for our country, and those family members left behind.
Tickets are $10 or $5 for children under the age of 12. Cash, checks and Zelle are accepted. Checks should be made payable to Voices Unlimited. Tickets may also be available at the door.
