Late-night fire in Huntley leaves home uninhabitable
A late-night fire at a house in Huntley Wednesday rendered the home uninhabitable, authorities said.
Crews from the Huntley Fire Protection District responded just before 11 p.m. to a structure fire on the 9700 block of Aberdeen Lane. Initial reports indicated there was a fire in the basement with visible smoke.
When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke emanating from the basement. Authorities said that the fire was successfully contained and extinguished.
No injuries were reported in the fire. Due to smoke and fire damage, the home has been deemed uninhabitable, officials stated.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Huntley Fire Protection District’s Prevention Bureau. No damage estimate was available.
