Man sentenced to 50 years for fatal 2021 shooting outside Montgomery party
A man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for a 2021 murder outside a party in Montgomery.
Ladarius A. Parker, 27, of the 1100 block of Light Road in Oswego Township, was sentenced Friday by Kane County Judge David Kliment.
On March 3, a jury convicted him of first-degree murder and found that he had personally discharged the gun used.
Parker was attending a May 2, 2021, party in the 1700 block of Stonegate Drive when he shot and killed 30-year-old Christopher B. McMorris of Aurora.
Police said they were called to a disturbance, where people reportedly had been fighting.
McMorris was sitting in a parked vehicle on the street.
Parker was arrested in January 2022 by U.S. Marshals in Freeport.
Parker has to serve 100% of the sentence before being eligible for parole, and received credit for the more than four years he has spent in jail awaiting trial.
