Man convicted of sexually abusing child

A Kane County jury has found a man guilty of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Remigio Sanchez Aguilar, 47, of the 200 block of LaSalle Street, Aurora, was convicted April 28 of abusing a young girl he knew.

Authorities said the abuse took place between December 2018 and December 2020.

One night, as the victim was lying next to the defendant on a mattress in the living room, he reached over and inappropriately touched her, authorities said. She was younger than 13.

Sanchez Aguilar is scheduled to be sentenced on July 9. He will have to register for life as a sex offender.
