Carol Stream home left uninhabitable after morning fire

No injuries were reported from a house fire Thursday morning in Carol Stream that left the home uninhabitable.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at about 8 a.m. and encountered heavy fire in the rear of the two-story, single-family home on the 800 block of Hampton Drive.

Fire officials said the fire extended inside the house on the both floors as well as the attic.

Firefighters remained on scene for 2½ hours.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
