Arlington Alfresco returns to downtown Arlington Heights Friday

Arlington Alfresco, the popular outdoor dining zone in downtown Arlington Heights, returns for the season Friday.

The village transforms the area around Vail Street and Campbell Avenue into a pedestrian-only dining and business district, with more than 20 restaurants offering expanded outdoor seating.

Last year, Arlington Alfresco welcomed more than 360,000 visitors.

“Arlington Alfresco has become a wonderful part of downtown Arlington Heights, bringing people together to enjoy our local restaurants and the energy of our community,” Mayor Jim Tinaglia said in an announcement of the event’s return. “It’s something we look forward to each year, and I’m excited to welcome residents and visitors back for another great season.”

Paired with Arlington Alfresco is the 25th anniversary of the village’s Sounds of Summer Concert Series. Concerts take place from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays between June 4 and Aug. 27, in Harmony Park, at the southeast corner of Vail and Campbell.

The season begins with Music with the Mayor on June 4, featuring Tinaglia’s band, Exit 147. Visit www.vah.com/soundsofsummer for the full lineup.

Guests are encouraged to bring nonfood essentials, such as hygiene items and diapers, for donation to Elk Grove and Wheeling townships. Local scouts will be present to assist with collections and participate in a Posting of the Colors ceremony.

Arlington Alfresco is pedestrian-only. Bicycles and e-bikes must be walked through the area. Parking is available in nearby municipal lots and garages. A parking map, list or participating restaurants and more information about Arlington Alfresco is available at www.vah.com/Alfresco.
