Harmonia Concert Series presents Beethoven and Rachmaninoff in intimate chamber setting
The Harmonia Concert Series will conclude its 2026 season with “Pocket Concertos,” a program featuring two landmark works of the piano concerto repertoire: Beethoven's Fourth and Rachmaninoff's Second, presented in intimate chamber arrangements for piano and string quintet.
These works are typically performed with full symphony orchestra in large concert halls, where audiences often experience them from a considerable distance.
The chamber format, by contrast, places listeners just a few feet from the musicians, offering a rare opportunity to watch the performance at close range and feel fully immersed in the music.
The concert will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at Faith Community United Church of Christ, 192 S. Center St. in Bensenville.
A reception with the artists will follow the concert, offering an opportunity to meet the musicians and greet fellow audience members.
Like all Harmonia events, the concert is free and open to the public. Free-will donations are gratefully received and support the series' mission of making world-class classical music accessible to the Bensenville community.
“Pocket Concertos” is generously underwritten by the Bensenville Arts Council. Visit facebook.com/harmoniaconcerts/.
