Man sentenced to 27 years for fentanyl death, armed violence
A St. Charles-area man has been sentenced to 27 years in prison for drug-induced homicide and armed violence.
Eric Fabisiak, 26, of the 6N800 block of Aurora Avenue in St. Charles Township, was sentenced Friday by Kane County Judge David Kliment.
Fabisiak pleaded guilty March 24.
He was accused of killing Amun Ahmed, 24, of Bolingbrook, on June 17, 2023.
St. Charles police were dispatched to the 1100 block of South Third Street for a report of a woman not breathing.
Police were told that the previous evening Ahmed had ingested one of 15 blue pills, stamped “M” and “30,” she bought from Fabisiak. The pills looked like prescription oxycodone, but laboratory testing revealed they were fake and contained fentanyl.
An autopsy determined that Ahmed died of combined drug toxicity.
When police arrested Fabisiak on the armed violence charge a little over a week later, they found he had 72 such pills. They also found a loaded .380 revolver, 6.2 grams of cocaine, a scale, several small plastic sandwich bags and ammunition.
Fabisiak had been convicted of a felony, so he was not permitted to possess a gun.
The drug-induced homicide charge was filed in October 2023.
Fabisiak was sentenced to 12 years on the homicide charge and 15 years on the armed violence charge. He will have to serve at least 16 years before being eligible for parole.
