Batavia police investigating man’s death, woman’s serious injury early Saturday

Batavia police are conducting a death investigation after responding to an early morning call Saturday in which a man was found dead and a woman injured.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of East Wilson Street minutes after a request for emergency assistance was made at about 3:52 a.m.

When they arrived they saw a 27-year-old woman with apparent injuries exit an apartment, leading to a further call for paramedics. Inside the apartment, the officers found a deceased 29-year-old man, police said.

The woman was transported to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

A preliminary investigation showed the man and woman knew each other. There is no ongoing threat to the community, police said.

The Batavia Police Department is being assisted by the Fox Valley Major Crimes Task Force in the investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information, including eyewitness accounts or surveillance video, to contact the department’s investigations unit at (630) 454-2500.
