Batavia Boardwalk Shops return for opening weekend on May 8

There’s something a little magical about the Boardwalk … and it’s almost time to experience it all over again.

On Friday, May 8, the seventh season of the Batavia Boardwalk Shops officially begins. Every year, 10 small businesses come together to create one vibrant, walkable destination in the heart of downtown Batavia.

Batavia MainStreet has announced the return of this beloved small business incubator, kicking off opening weekend in downtown Batavia.

To celebrate the start of the season, the community is invited to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, just before the shops officially open for the day.

Located at the corner of Wilson and River streets, the Boardwalk Shops feature a curated collection of micro-businesses offering everything from handcrafted goods and specialty foods to fashion, books, and home decor.

These charming local businesses are more than just a place to shop — they are where ideas come to life, where entrepreneurs take their next big step, and where our community comes together to support local in the most meaningful way.

“Our new shop owners have been working hard to bring to life some of the most vibrant and beautiful shops we’ve had yet,” said Kristen Desler, assistant director of Batavia MainStreet. “Guests are invited to enjoy their visit by grabbing a dirty soda or sweet treat, relaxing on the newly renovated brick paver patio, or snapping a photo with their shopping bags in front of the ‘Shop Like a Local’ photo opportunity. Make it a must-do on your summer bucket list — then come back and do it again. And again.”

From May 8 through June 28, every purchase made at the Boardwalk Shops earns shoppers an entry into a weekly raffle for a chance to win $50 in Downtown Dollars — redeemable like cash at more than 60 local Batavia businesses. One winner will be drawn each week, so the more you shop, the more chances you have to win!

Whether you're searching for unique gifts, delicious treats, or simply a fun day out, the Batavia Boardwalk Shops offer something for everyone. After visiting the Boardwalk, shoppers are encouraged to explore the rest of downtown Batavia for even more retail and restaurant experiences. Make it a full day out downtown!

Opening Weekend invites guests to be among the first to explore this year’s lineup of vendors, discover unique finds, and experience the energy that has made the Boardwalk Shops a regional destination.

The shops are open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays.
